启示录二至三章里有七个教会。神从当时小亚西亚这么多的教会当中,特别拣选出这七个教会来。神的目的,乃是要将这七个教会拿来作预言的教会,预言说,教会的道路在地上到底是怎样的。给我们看见,甚么种的教会是祂所定罪的,甚么种的教会是祂所喜欢的。总之,启示录二至三章是说教会的道路,注意教会的事要怎么作才能讨主欢。── 倪柝声《初信造就》

 

启示录二至三章的七个教会,头三个和末了四个分作两段。头三个教会都已经过去了,它们没有主再来的应许;后四个教会有主再来的应许(起二25;三31121),所以定规今天都存在,且要继续一直等到主耶稣再来。── 倪柝声《初信造就》

 

二至三章七封信内一般的次序︰(1)称赞;(2)定罪;(3)警告;(4)劝勉;(5)鼓励;(6)应许。── 牛述光

 

    七个教会是预表七个时代个个特出而不同的教会︰(1)以弗所教会预表第一世纪使徒时代的教会,从五旬节至约翰离世(主后百年)为止。(2)士每拿教会预表大遭患难的教会,从约翰离世至康士坦丁帝(100~311)(3)别迦摩教会预表政教合一,与世俗为友的教会,从康士坦丁帝到教皇贵格利第一(311~590)(4)推雅推喇教会预表黑暗时代藉政权逼迫神的真儿女的教会,从教皇贵格利第一到路得马丁(实际是继续到主再来,590~1517)(5)撒狄教会预表更正教,路得马丁到卫斯理约翰(直存到主再来,1517~1727)(6)非拉铁非教会预表爱弟兄而又奋勇布道的教会(1727~现今)(7)老底嘉教会预表冷淡堕落却是遇到主来的教会。每时代中,可能同时并有这七个教会的光景,因为当时七个不同的教会是同时出现。── 牛述光

 

【启示录是给人遵守的书】启示录的特点,是以豫言为性质的。不只七印、七号、七碗是豫言,连七封书信也是豫言。神在亚西亚拣选当时的七个教会来代表所有其他的教会,把豫言放在她们的身上。我们要特别注意的就是:「念这书上豫言的,和那些听见又遵守其中所记载的,都是有福的(3),和「凡遵守这书上豫言的有福了(廿二7)。因此我们可以说,这些豫言都是神的命令。外面虽然穿上豫言的衣服,里面却是神的命令。这一本是实行的书,不是研究的书。这里的豫言是给人遵守的。不要遵守的人,怎能明白启示录呢?── 倪柝声《教会的正统》

The ‘Amens’ of John’s Writings

‘Amen’! means ‘so be it’! Or ‘So it is’.

I. The Amen of Gracious Affirmation—25 times, and always double in John’s Gospel, translated ‘Verily! Verily!’ in the A.V.

The Cross in Heaven

The title of Christ—the Lamb—used 28 times in Revelation, presents our Lord in His sacrificial aspect, and thus constitutes wherever it is used a direct reference to the Cross.

Heavenly Worshippers
